Mobile Devices have been adapted into our lives throughout the last decade; however, there are still more opportunity in the future for its development. The future of this technology promises a better tomorrow and a greater market; that's why PEGA D&E closely studied this trend and produced a trend observation report.

The Future of Mobile Device Communication

The report focuses on a service called Converged TV. The Converged TV greatly needs the collaboration by three different kinds of service providers; the TV industry, the ISP industry, and the Telecom industry. In the future, TV content will be listed as APPs, the users will retrieve information such as show times, cast lists, and episode information on to their hand held device. As new types of media interactions develop, the users can also share this information with their friends or online community. They can post comments about the show or even invite their friends to watch the same episode.

A new Information Sharing Experience: Who will bring it?

In order to realize Converged TV's maximum potential, the consociation of TV channels, software developers and the help of ISPs is needed. Together, these three industries can create a more convenient and comprehensive information sharing experience.

Newer, Better and still Familiar

In PEGA D&E’s report on Converged TV, they listed three major applications for the future. These three suggestions of applications came from the observation of our current media behaviors. For example, how we like to share funny videos or pictures with our friends, how we want to find more information on a certain product on TV, or even get user feedback about a service provider, etc.

Normally we would have to go on different interfaces to find this information, but with Converged TV we could achieve all of these actions on one device, the mobile device. Below are the three applications that PEGA D&E suggests:

1. The comprehensive sharing station:
   You can turn on the Converged TV APP and choose the 201 F1 World Champions on the sport channel. While the TV responds to your request and features the race, your mobile device simultaneously allows access to the racer's portfolio, the gear he's driving, the map of the racing track and even the picture/webpage of the last few races.
   
   
2. The user communication integrated Internet TV: While we access the TV show using the Converged TV App, we, at the s0ame time, connect ourselves to a user communication platform. The user communication platform presents limitless opportunities. By using this App, you can find which store the characters dine in, which cell phone she's holding in her hand or where you can find the best price for that piece of dress. You can join topics which you and other users are both interested in; you can also start new topics and let others join your conversation.
   
   
3. The bilateral interaction during TV experience: Collaborating with preschool education and interactive educators, TV is no longer just an entertainment station, it becomes a learning tool. By linking your tablet computer to the TV channel, your children would be able to interact with the program. The child would be able to answer questions and get instance response while watching the program. Converged TV would open a brand new area for learning.
