No longer do electronic devices have to be cold and sterile. The 24 LED lights on the panel indicate the 24 hours in a day. The user simply draws the time they want the power to be on with a whiteboard marker and power will come on at the right time. The parts not drawn in marker turn the power off. Not only is it fun to use, it also saves power! JustDrawIt! comes from PEGA D&E's Between On & Off series. It received a rapt reception when it was first released at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2008.
For JustDrawIt! we turned the conventional logic of the IR sensor on its head; Usually the sensor will act as an on switch when it receives more light, but in this case the IR actually activates when it receives less light. In this way we can draw with a black marker and use the area we covered as the control factor for turning on the attached devices. The result is a doodle power switch! The initial concept of using drawing to control the switch was explored in many ways; experiments with pencil on leather, writing on canvas and other combinations of different materials were carried out until we realized whiteboard markers and acrylic created the perfect match! Acrylic's transparent effect and visual clarity means JustDrawIt! is practical and can also be used as a decoration in all kinds of different interiors.
